Increasing
the creative capacity of the pension fund PGGM
PGGM, the pension fund for care and welfare in The Netherlands, with over 1
million customers and around 1100 employees, has defined 5 critical sucess factors.
One of these critical sucess factors is the ‘creative capacity’ of
the organisation.
The PGGM department: 'Business Development & Innovation' asked new shoes
today to support them in the development and roll-out of a programme to increase
PGGM’s
creative capacity.
The programme is based on 3 pillars
Phase 1 - Development attitude & skills
around creative thinking (culture)
Phase 2 - Stimulation and idea generation (ideas)
Phase 3 - Putting ideas into action (implementation) |

Activities
within the program
- Creative sessions: Organising workshops for idea generation (aimed
at process improvement and alternative pension solutions: e.g. Natural pension
- a pension without money, just services)
- Intranet: An inspiration environment with quotes and images, cases
of applied creativity from around the world, current initiatives within PGGM
and a special innovative toolkit
- Special communication: Creativity toolbox with quick reference cards,
a very irregular innovation newsletter and many fysical inspiration items in
the PGGM offices
- Facilitators training: 32 PGGM employees are being trained to facilitate
creative sessions by themselves and to become ‘change-agents’ to
help the organisation with ‘postpone judgement’, to help increase
positive reactions to new ideas, resulting in ideas reaching a wider audience
Aim and dream
At the end it’s all about the innovations which actually help PGGM in the
market. The common dream is: “To make it to the front page of ‘Het
Financieele Dagblad’ with a very special PGGM innovation” |
