The flame within me

The word creativity has in its root meaning “to give birth”. Giving birth is never easy. First it requires a surrendering to ‘something’ long before the outcome of that something is tangible. It is surrendering to the unknown. Second it never happens without pain and hard work, and third we are asked in pregnancy to love what we cannot see: to love the child, without ever having seen her face, without ever having met her until she is ready to enter the world. Ideas are children in the womb, seeds in the darkness of the soil.
To truly be ‘creators’ we have to be able to ‘co-exist’ with the unknown and to love the unknown. ‘Only then will the unknown share its beauty with us’.
